TOWN OF ADELSHEIM AND PALACE GROUNDS

The video art exhibition “Currents” in summer 2008 is about anxiety and uncertainty, but also about spirituality and contemplation. Louis von Adelsheim filmed the life of Tibetan monks in the Pullahari monastery at the edge of the Himalayas. The shooting, which had been planned for a long time, gained unexpected relevance because of the evolving political situation in Tibet. On the one hand, the viewer takes part in the quiet life of the monastery. On the other hand, the visitor experiences a threatening border atmosphere, including barbed wire and passport controls. Violence, spirituality, magical places and the sensation of nature are captured. For this project, the grounds of the palace are dedicated to mental streams of energy while the two dozen video projections in the centre of Adelsheim are about concrete physical phenomena and renewable energy sources.
